{Just One Drop} Photo Philanthropy Trip to East Africa

It’s that time of year again…planning has begun for our annual Photo-Philanthropy trip!

As you know, photography is a passion of mine and I am constantly looking for avenues to use my photography to make a difference in the lives of people. Every year in our off-season we find a Non-Profit looking for photographers to create compelling imagery to tell their story which aids in fund-raising and education for their cause.

This year we have chosen Thirst Relief International’s projects in Eastern Africa, an amazing organization providing clean water solutions for those in desperate need. We are honored to donate our photography services to their efforts to bring critical assistance.

But we need to get there… and that is where you come in…

There are two ways you can help.

1.     Donate Here (any amount is graciously accepted)

2 . Spread the Word – that is how goodness is shared! Inspire someone else to make a difference as well. Tweet / FB…whatever social media makes you smile!

I am equally thrilled because my whole family will join us and my children will continue be exposed at a young age to the beautiful culture of giving back.

IT’S ALL ABOUT WATER

Nearly 1 Billion people today, STILL lack access to safe, clean drinking water and more than 2 Billion lack access to adequate sanitation. With nearly 1 million children dying each year due to water related illnesses, that are preventable, water is the most vital component to not only survival, but also to the development of a community.

Water

A lack of safe, clean drinking water is still the largest crisis facing people around our world today. Water is the foundational building block, and first step, for any community in the developing world to begin moving toward self sufficiency and stablity.

Health

A child dies every 21 seconds from water-related disease. These deaths aren’t simply caused by contaminated water, but also by a lack of access to proper sanitation and hygiene. Thirst Relief not only provides people with clean water, but also the knowledge of and access to proper sanitation that will be passed down throughout generations.

Education

443 million school days are lost each year due to water related illness. Hours are also spent each day retrieving water, which results in no time to pursue education. Clean water solutions allow children to focus on education and their future rather than water gathering.

Community

In one day women around the world spend 200 million hours collecting water. By providing a community with access to clean water, you are freeing up valuable time that members of that community can use to work, go to school, and perpetuate sustainable life. On average, every $1 invested in water and sanitation provides an economic return in that community of $8.
